Welcome
The Age of Lost Omens began in the year 4606 heralded by the death of the living god Aroden. The current year is 4712 and ever since Aroden’s death everything changed.
Along with the failed prophecy all arcane magic has become unstable and divination magic no longer functions. Casting arcane spells sometimes drives the caster mad, and the few oracles that remain are nearly powerless and often treated as outcasts. Newly enchanted items have also become more likely to be twisted or cursed than ever before despite all precautions. All this had led to increased popularity in the relatively new firearm technology, although still a poor replacement for real magic1.
Yet, to those who practice magic the rewards are well worth the risk. The drawbacks have helped to discourage those of questionable worth from learning the art, and driven up the price of magic items. To the vast majority of learned arcane spell casters both are seen as positives.
To the average individual there remains a sense of uncertainty in this age even though it has been more than a century since Aroden’s death. A great many humans feel robbed of a bright future and look for others to blame for their misfortune. While many scoff at such a negative attitude, most agree that something is truly wrong with Golarion.
For those with talent and a willingness to risk the dangers of an adventurous life the time has never been so right to become a hero. Fame and fortune await those bold enough to face risks that most are incapable of confronting. Are you up to the challenge?
